The primordial idea I had before this series of activations was to travel through an area very close to a cable landing center. I discovered a point that is one of the few whose exact location is known. The company EllaLink made that center known.
Since I had that information, I set out to go to that point where a whole series of implications, even colonial ones, converge. The Caribbean is a very interesting area because the colonial past of the European powers in the area is still clearly visible. Above all, France still retains overseas territories there that are French. The Dutch crown is also integrated by Caribbean countries that are not properly Dutch territory. England has its very powerful and influential zone. Spain feeds its great link with the rest of the countries in the area.
Sines, a Portuguese coastal city, has been established as the point of entry and exit for communication between all of Europe and the Caribbean. The beach where the submarine cables are located is a "total protection" zone due to its high environmental sensitivity, according to Portuguese authorities. It is a dune and sub-dune area that is vital for aquatic avifauna. Disturbance must be minimal. Curiously, the place where a vital infrastructure for European security passes is also restricted for environmental reasons. Few can access that area of the beach. A permit is required if one wishes to venture off the designated path for visitors passing to other nearby beaches.
What I did was not only register my walk near this landing zone but also record data such as force and acceleration, thanks to an application. With all that database, I generated an animation on a map in which, according to all these parameters, we randomly move from one point to another on my route. Thus, I simulate my movement, with zooms and visual effects. In addition, information about the protected species in the dunes appears in the browser tab. In this way, I also closed this cycle in which I recorded my data and made it available to the Network, flowing through all those cables that I had nearby.

It would be interesting to create actions or movements, record them with all their parameters, and make them available to people, untreated. We exist because we generate data. The fact of living surrounded by these devices, whether you like it or not, generates a trail.
